How to Fix if Your Google Maps Voice Navigation is not Working on Android?

Google Maps is the most feature-rich navigation app on both Android and iOS platforms. Google always added it’s new features to improve the user experience specially for phone users. Voice navigation feature of Google Maps can helps you to navigate any places while driving without looking at your phone’s display. Check Google Maps Navigation Settings

If your Google Maps voice navigation is not working, then the first thing you should do is to check your Navigation Settings. If you have accidentally deactivated voice navigation in Google Maps, then you will not get the voice assistance.

  • To check the feature is enabled open Google Maps on your phone and start navigating to any place.
  • Then, tap the sound/speaker icon appears at the right side of the screen to make sure it’s not muted.
  • You can also check your phone’s volume is turned up.

  • From the same menu, you can also customize the voice assistant’s language and change the map color scheme and distance units.
  • After that, go back and start navigating again to see if your voice assistance will work or not.

Ensure Your Phone is Not on Silent

If your phone is in silent mode or Do Not Disturb mode, then you might not hear Google Maps’ voice navigation. Disable Do Not Disturb mode and ensure your phone’s volume is turned up to fix this issue.

If you are download offline maps in Google Maps for offline navigation, then in some cases it might not provide you with voice navigation. So, if you are not getting any voice guidance you must ensure your phone is connected to the internet

Check the Sound Output Device

You can check your sound output device, if you have a wireless audio device connected to your phone,then make sure to enable ‘Play voice over Bluetooth’ in Settings.

  • You can open Google maps app on your device.
  • Go to the profile at the top right corner of the screen.
  • Select ‘Settings’, tap to open it.
  • Scroll down then tap on ‘Navigation settings’ and check if the Play voice over Bluetooth’ Settings is enabled.
  • This will ensure that voice navigation audio plays through the connected bluetooth speaker and not your phone’s speaker.

If the setting is enabled and voice navigation is still not working in Google Maps, then you need to fix Bluetooth issues on your Android phone. There could also be an issue with the speaker on your device, your earphones, or your car’s Bluetooth audio system, so make sure your phone is sending audio output to the right one. If multiple audio devices have connected to your phone then disconnect them and ensure that your preferred device is active.

Update your Google Maps App from Play Store

If there is an issue in the app’s code or a bug that can cause the voice navigation to doesn’t work, then Google will likely catch wind of it and fix the issue. If all the above steps you have tried but still not resolved the issue, then you can go to your Play Store to check if any update available for Google Maps. If yes then update your Google maps to its latest version.

Clear the App Cache

  • To clear app cache, open the ‘Settings’ of your Android phone.
  • Select ‘Apps’ and then tap on ‘All Apps’, and list of all the installed app on your phone will open.
  • From the list of apps find ‘Google Maps’.
