5 Ways to Fix Gmail Not Receiving Emails Issue

If you are not receiving any new emails on Gmail, then go through this article and know some ways to fix this issue.

Gmail is the one of the most popular free email service by Google. You can access it through your mobile app or using any web browser. If you don’t have any Gmail account and you want to create a new one, then you can easily do that. You can freely sign in to your Gmail account and also get the other Google services for free.

How to Fix Gmail Not Receiving Emails issue?

1. Ensure Proper Network Connection

If you are waiting for mail and haven’t received it yet, then the first thing you have to do is to check your internet connection. You can also try visiting other websites to see if they open without any issues.

If you are connected to a Wi-Fi, then sit with in its range to get proper connectivity or should try to restart the router. If you are using mobile data, then you can contact your internet service provider and report the problem with the internet to them.

If your are connected to the internet but still not getting your new email, then their will be other issue.

2. Check Your Spam Folder

Gmail sorts out your incoming emails to different folders. Sometimes, it will mark some mails you have received from an unknown sender as spam and shift that mail it to a folder instead of your inbox. You can recover those maild from the Spam folder and make sure it doesn’t happen in the future.

On Phone

  • Open your Gmail app on your mobile and tap the hamburger menu present at the top left.
  • From the left sidebar, scroll down and select the option ‘Spam’.
  • When you find the email you were looking for, open it, and then tap on the ‘Report not spam’ button’ and Gmail won’t send mails from this sender directly to spam.

On PC

  • Open Gmail on your browser and click on the ‘More’ option from the left sidebar.
  • From this sidebar select the option ‘Spam’.
  • Here you can find your missing email.
  • You can then open the mail and click on ‘Report not spam’ to prevent it from going there again.

3. Make Room For New Emails in Your Google Storage

Google gives you 15 GB of free cloud storage that can be used to back up photos and videos from Google Photos, or for files, documents, attachments, and emails. When this storage hits maximum capacity, then there is no space to store new mails and you will stop receiving new mails. You have to clear some data to make more space to get new mail.

On Phone

  • To clear storage open your Gmail app, tap on the profile icon present at the top right corner of the screen.
  • Below ‘Manage your Google Account’, click on ‘Storage’ and ‘Manage your storage with Google One’s page will open.
  • Here, you will see how much storage is used from 15GB free storage.
  • Click on ‘Clean up space’ button below and Storage manager’ page will open.
  • Scroll down and you will see the section “Clean up by service” section and select ‘Gmail’.
  • Choose the emails with large attachments and tap on the ‘trash icon’ present at the top right.

On PC

  • Open Gmail on your browser and click on your profile icon.
  • Click on ‘Manage your Google Account’.
  • On your Google account page, click on ‘Manage storage’.
  • On the next page, scroll down and click on the option ‘Free up account storage’.
  • Under ‘Clean up by service’, select ‘Gmail’.
  • Select the emails with large attachments and click on the ‘Delete’ button.

4. Fix POP/IMAP Settings on Gmail

If the POP (Post Office Protocol) and IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) settings are incorrect, then you might have trouble getting new messages. Because these settings let you receive your emails on Gmail. If the problem is in this setting then you can fixed it easily.

  • Open your browser and go to the Gmail.
  • Click on the gear icon present at the top right and settings will open
  • Here, select ‘See all settings’.
  • Go to the ‘Forwarding and POP/IMAP’ tab at the top.
  • Then, check the ‘Enable POP for all mail’ and ‘Enable IMAP’ boxes.
  • After that go back and reload the page and you should be able to see your missing emails.

5. Log Out and Log In Again to Your Account

Gmail might have syncing issues with your account and for that it may not be able to show you new incoming messages. To fix this issue log out your Gmail account and log in again might help to resolve such problems.

On Phone

If you are on Android user, then you cannot just log out of Google on your phone. But if you continue to have issues with Gmail, then first remove Google Account from your Phone to log out.

  • Once you have logged out, go to your Gmail, and click on the profile icon.
  • From the overflow menu, select the option ‘Add another account’.
  • ‘Set up email’ screen will open , from that tap on ‘Google’ and then sign in with your account username and password.

On PC

  • Open browser and go to your Gmail account.
  • Then, click on your profile picture.
  • From the subsequent menu, select ‘Sign out of account’.
  • If you have multiple accounts, then you can click on ‘Sign out of all accounts’ instead.
  • Once you have signed out, log back into your account to fix the issue.

For some reason, if you have multiple emails set up, Gmail doesn’t let you log out of one account. So you can only sign out from one, by signing out from others as well.
