Limit Adult Content in Safari for iPhone and iPad

The first and easiest way to block websites in Safari is turn on the ‘Limit Adult Websites’ option on Apple’s Screen Time settings. When you enable this option it will banned the adult websites including porn and gambling.

  • Open Settings of your iPhone and tap ion ‘Screen Time.’
  • Select ‘Content & Privacy Restrictions.’
  • Toggle on the ‘Content and Privacy Restrictions’ switch and select ‘Store, Web, Siri & Game Center Content.’
  • Then, tap on ‘Web Content’ and choose ‘Limit Adult Websites.’

Block Specific Websites in Safari for iPhone and iPad

If limiting adult content isn’t enough, and you want to block a specific website, then you can also do that.

  • Open Settings app and choose ‘Screen Time.’
  • Under RESTRICTIONS section tap on ‘Content & Privacy Restrictions.’
  • Toggle on the ‘Content & Privacy Restrictions’ switch and Select ‘Store, Web, Siri & Game Center Content’ option.
  • Tap on ‘Web Content’ and Choose ‘Limit Adult Websites.’
  • Under NEVER ALLOW section, tap on ‘Add Website.’
  • A new page will open, where you can type the URL of the website you want to block in the Website field and select Back at the top left.

You can repeat this process for each site you’d like to block. after blocking a site If you find that site that’s still getting through, then you can visit that site and see the Address Bar of Safari to make sure you’re blocking the correct URL. If you want you can copy that URL and paste in the required field. One thing you keep in your mind that if certain websites have mobile sites, you may need to block them separately.

Block Everything and Whitelist Only Specific Sites in Safari for iPhone and iPad

If your have very young children and they are using your iPhone including your browser and you want to make sure nothing is accessible except what you specifically allow, then you can disable everything and then only turn back on the sites you consider permissible, like Apple or Disney.

  • Open Settings app of your iPhone and select ‘Screen Time.’

  • Tap on ‘Add Website’ below and a new page will open, where you have to add Title and URL for a custom website that you want to add to your allow list and select Back from top left.

How to Block Websites on iPhone Through Router Settings?

To maintain your kids’ online time safe, generally the Screen Time web content restrictions should be enough. However, tech-savvy kids can still find their way to break out of restrictions. Nowadays, most internet routers come with the ability to block certain websites via their URLs. You can block websites on your iPhone through your router settings.

  • Open Safari, Chrome, or any other browser on your iPhone and in the address bar type in your router’s IP address. (At the bottom of your router you can find the IP address of a router)
  • A page will open, where you need type in the login credential of your router to access its settings.
  • Then, navigate and click on ‘Wifi Setup’ to open a drop-down menu. This setting’s name might vary from one router to another.

Note: Depending on the router you use some settings pages and steps may differ. In this article we used an Airtel Xstream router.

  • In your router’s settings locate the ‘Mac Filter’ option.
  • On the ‘Wireless MAC Address Filter’, tap on Action button and a drop-down Menu will open. From menu choose the option ‘Activate Blacklist.’
  • Now, enter the website URL (or address) you want to block separately and click on ‘Apply.’
  • Restart your router for the changes to take effect and your children won’t be able to access the websites you have added to the block list of your router.
