How to Change the Keyboard Size on Android Devices?
If you are an Android smartphone user, and want to make your Android keyboard bigger or smaller, then you can do that through either the Settings app (Samsung) or the keyboard’s options (Google Pixel). Other Android phones should work similarly.
On Samsung
- Through Samsung device settings you will get the keyboard size controls.
- Open the “Settings” of your Samsung phone and tap on “General management.”
- Then, choose the “Samsung Keyboard settings”.
- Tap on “Size and transparency.”
- To adjust the size, you can use the controls along the edges of the keyboard and then tap on “Done” to save the new size.
Some phones work differently. Incase the above steps don’t work then you can pull up the keyboard and tap the gear icon. After that go to the Preferences, under Layout section tap on “Keyboard height” and then select the size.
On Google Pixel
You can change the size of the keyboard on a Google Pixel phone via the Gboard settings.
- To access the keyboard select a text box, then tap the four dots icon from the top left side of the keyboard.
- A menu will open, tap on ” Resize.”
- Tap-and-drag the top or bottom of the keyboard to resize it.
- When finished click on “tik mark” to save it.

- On most phones that use a stock or near-stock interface, the above method is the only way to change the font size of the default Android keyboard. Android has a Font Size setting but it changes the size of everything, not just the keyboard. Incase, if you only want a larger keyboard, then this is not ideal.
- Through Accessibility menu you can access the Android’s Magnification feature, but it also doesn’t work with the default keyboard. If you activate it with the keyboard open, you can only magnify the portion of the screen where the keyboard isn’t visible.
