After A 10-month Government-imposed Ban, BGMI Has Come Back To India.
The developers of the well-known game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), Krafton, have announced that the game will be returning to the Android and iOS platforms. In July 2022, BGMI was outlawed in India due to security reasons. However, Krafton has declared that they will soon release a download version of the game.
“We are extremely grateful to the Indian authorities for allowing us to resume operations of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI),” said Sean Hyunil Sohn, CEO of KRAFTON, Inc. India. We would like to express our appreciation for the support and endurance of our Indian gaming community over the past few months. He emphasised the ability of gaming to unite people and foster lifelong memories while expressing his pleasure to welcome players back to the platform.
Sohn emphasised Krafton’s dedication to the Indian gaming industry further, saying, “At KRAFTON, Inc., we are passionately dedicated to the Indian gaming industry. India has always been the focal point of our strategy, which underpins all of our work. He emphasised their support for cutting-edge technologies, partnership with regional developers, and investment in the Indian gaming sector in order to promote growth and innovation.
Before the prohibition, according to BGMI, the game had more over 100 million total users in less than two years. By providing events and content with an Indian focus, the game’s developer says that BGMI was instrumental in creating the Indian esports scene.
“We would like to express our deep appreciation and gratitude to the authorities for allowing us to restart the operations of BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI),” said Vibhor Kukreti, Head of Government Affairs at KRAFTON, Inc. India. KRAFTON, Inc. is a law-abiding South Korean company that has implemented many procedures to guarantee compliance with all relevant rules. We put in a lot of effort to support, sustain, and encourage the expansion of the gaming ecosystem while embracing innovative practises to ensure that India takes the lead in this field.
After reaching over 100 million users in India, BGMI was threatened with removal after India banned PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), another well-known Krafton game, in 2020. New Delhi started the crackdown on PUBG as part of a wider ban on more than 100 mobile apps coming from China. This action was taken in response to a protracted border confrontation between and China in the Galwan Valley.
