Banks are expected to remain closed for 17 days in December 2024 due to national and local holidays. The Reserve Bank of India has published information about state, regional and national holidays on its website.
Note that banks are also closed on Sundays, second and fourth Saturdays of the month. If we add this holiday to the events held in December, banks will be closed for 17 days in the last month of the year.
Bank Holiday for December 2024
In December, the Bank will be closed on the Feast of St. Francis Xavier, Pa Togan Nengminja Sangma, U Soso Tham’s birthday, Goa Liberation Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas, Christmas Ceremony, U Kiang Nangbah and New Year’s Eve, Losoong, Namsoong festival.
According to the RBI website, all scheduled and non-scheduled banks will observe public holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.
All the Digital Banking Services will Continue as Normal During the Holidays
During the holidays, customers can make financial transactions through digital banking, UPI, IMPS and net banking. These transactions include ordering check books, paying bills, recharge prepaid phones, transfer money, booking hotels and travel tickets, to view your spending details and much more.
The process of closing check payments has also been simplified using digital banking. To perform most of the above transactions, you just need to log into your net banking account on the respective bank website and click once.
List of State Wise Bank Holidays in December 2024
1. December 3 (Tuesday): The Feast of St. Francis Xavier will be celebrated as a holiday in Goa.
2. December 12 (Thursday): Pa Togan Nengminja Sangma Day will be observed as a holiday in Meghalaya.
3. December 18 (Wednesday): Guru Ghasidas Jayanti will be celebrated as a holiday in Chandigarh.
4. December 18 (Wednesday): There will be a holiday in Meghalaya to mark the birth anniversary of U SoSo Tham.
5. December 19 (Thursday): Goa will observe a public holiday for Liberation Day.
6. December 24 (Tuesday): Christmas Eve will be a holiday in Mizoram, Meghalaya and Nagaland.
7. December 24 (Tuesday): A holiday will be observed in Punjab and Chandigarh to mark Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day.
8. December 25 (Wednesday): Christmas will be celebrated as a holiday across India.
