- Open the Settings of your Android phone.
- Scroll down and select the option ‘Digital Wellbeing & parental controls’.
- Below you will see the option Dashboard, click on that.
- Open Dashboard and you will see the time under Screen time. That is how much time you spent on your mobile.
- Below the screen time, you will see where you spend how much time, all the application and websites.
What is Digital Wellbeing?
Digital Wellbeing is a built-in tool on your android smartphone to help you to manage your interaction with your phone, or monitor your kid’s phone activity. Along with checking how much time you have spent in each of your apps, you can also set goals and timers to control your time spend on your screen.
In this features you can also get the Bedtime mode. You can set up this feature to disable most of the functions of your mobile while you sleep. There is also a Focus mode is there, which can pause distracting apps temporarily. In Digital Wellbeing, you can also manage things like notifications, Do Not Disturb mode, Flip to Shhh, and more.
How to Use Digital Wellbeing on Android?
Digital Wellbeing is pre-installed on your android device and to access your screen time information
you don’t have to log in to anything.
To use this Digital Wellbeing feature on Android, you can open your Settings and go to the Digital Wellbeing option. Open Digital Wellbeing and it will show your recent screen time for all your apps. If you tap on a specific app, you will see the time spent on that app. Within Digital Wellbeing, you will also get few different features that you can customize to fit your needs.
If there is a specific app that you want to stop using or want to reduce its usage, this feature is excellent. You can set a particular time daily on different apps. Once you have hit your screen time limit for the day, you will not able to use that app until the timer resets at midnight.
How to Set App Timer?
- Open the Settings of your Android.
- Go to the Digital Wellbeing & parental controls, click to open it.
- Select the Dashboard option and you will see different apps you have used. Tap on Show all apps.
- From all the apps, you can find the particular app that you want to set a timer for.
- Open the app and under the Settings, you will see the App timer option with hourglass icon.
- Open App timer and set timer to how much time you will be able to use the app daily and then press OK.
Bedtime Mode on Digital Wellbeing
In Bedtime mode, you can do multiple things that can help you to keep screen time to a minimum. You can turn on the Do Not Disturb mode, set the screen to grayscale, and keep the screen dark. This feature allows you to choose which of these features are activated. You can set the time and day to use bedtime mode, and it will automatically turn on and off and you don’t have to worry about remembering it. You can also set the Bedtime mode turns on while the phone is plugged in during charging.
How to Set Bedtime Mode?
- Open your Android phone Settings.
- Scroll down and select Digital Wellbeing & parental controls.
- Below Dashboard, you will see the option Bedtime mode.
- Toggle on the ‘Do Not Disturb for Bedtime Mode’s and tap on Next below.
- Set up Bedtime mode by selecting the start and end time and other Customize option.
- To try it, tap on Turn on now.
Focus Mode on Digital Wellbeing
Digital Wellbeing also offers Focus mode and that is one of the best things. Focus mode helps you to pause distracting apps and hide it’s notifications. This forces you to stop using your phone as an aid and get stuff done. You can choose which apps are allowed and which apps are not. Untill you finish your task you can turn this Focus mode on.
Whenever you want, you can also turn off the Focus mode.
How to Use Focus Mode?
- Open the Settings on your Android phone.
- Select Digital Wellbeing and parental controls.
- Then, click on the Focus mode and you will see all your apps. Tap on Show all apps.
- Select the apps from the list and it will add in to Your distracting apps.
- You can also tap on Set a schedule to automatically choose when you want Focus mode to go on and off.
Digital Wellbeing Parental Controls
Along with check and manage your screen time, you can also monitor your child’s screen time in Digital Wellbeing.
- When you open the Digital Wellbeing option on your android, bottom of the page you will see the Parental controls option under families section.
- To use the parental controls through Digital Wellbeing, you have to download the Family Link app from the Google Play Store.
- You will have to set everything on your phone, and then on your child’s phone.
- After setting up everything, you can monitor your child’s screen time, set time limits for them, disable their apps at bedtime, and more.
