Department of Telecommunications (Dots): Remove the Fake SIM Card Issued in your Name Immediately

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has alerted billions of mobile users. DoT said Cybercriminals can issue fake SIM cards in your name. SIM cards issued on the basis of fake documents can be used for cyber fraud and because of this you may face a big problem.

The Department of Telecommunications has released a video on social media platforms, telling people how to avoid it. In an earlier post, DoT said that cybercriminals can issue SIM cards by misusing your documents. These fake SIM cards can be used for cyber fraud. If you find that there is a number that you are not using and is active in your name, you should report it immediately. For this, you can visit the Sanchar Sathi Portal and App launched by the Central Government.

Department of Telecommunications in its video said that for this you have to go to Sanchar Saathi (https://sancharsaathi.gov.in/) portal. After that, you have to follow the instructions to remove the fake SIM card issued in your name.

1. First go to Sanchar Sath’s web portal or app.

2. Here you will find ‘Know Mobile Connections in Your Name’ option.

3. By clicking this option, a new window of TAFCOP will open for users.

4. Enter your mobile number and captcha here.

5. After that, enter the OTP received on your number and log in to the portal.

6. Here you will find details of all SIM cards issued in your name. If you see any fake number in your name, mark it and remove it.

7. After the Department of Telecom and Telecom Companies receive the request, action will be taken and the number issued in your name will be blocked.
