EPFO Rules Changed; You can Now Update without Documents
A big change in the rules from the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). Now EPF members can update their Universal Account Number(UAN) along with personal details without uploading any documents. If UAN is linked with Aadhaar, then EPF member can update his profile with personal details like name, date of birth, gender, nationality, father or mother’s name, marital status, husband or wife’s name, date of joining and date of leaving without uploading any documents. Previously, members had to seek approval from their employers to update their profiles, resulting in an average delay of about 28 days.
According to an EPFO statement, out of the total 8 lakh correction requests received by EPFO through employers in the financial year 2024-25, about 45 per cent can now be approved by members themselves. However, if the UAN is available before October 1, 2017, then any update in the profile will require the employer’s approval.
How to Update EPF Profile?
- First visit the official website of EPF at www.epfindia.gov.in and log in to the member portal by filling in details like UAN number, password and captcha.
- After this, click on the ‘Manage’ option given above in the menu and click on the ‘Change Basic Details’ option.
- Enter the personal details as per your Aadhaar card and submit it.
- Track the profile update process using the ‘Track Request’ option.
