Google Pay New Updates: Now you Have to Pay Extra Charge for Bill Payment!

If you are also using Google Pay to pay your household electricity bills, then you are in for a big shock. The app, which offers various services from UPI to bill payments, has now started increasing the burden on consumers. Now all the apps have started charging for bill payment. Google Pay is not behind in this race because now Google has also started charging convenience charges from the users.

According to a report in the Economic Times, if you are using a credit or debit card for bill payment, you will be charged between 0.5% and 1%, apart from this you will have to pay GST. We remind you that Google Pay has not yet charged users any additional fees for bill payments. Currently, Google Pay has not given any official information regarding the convenience charge.

The Economic Times report also mentioned that for a year, Google Pay has been charging its users a convenience charge of Rs 3 on mobile charges. When a customer used a credit card to pay the electricity bill, the app charged the user a convenience charge of Rs. 15. While there is currently no information on charges on UPI transactions through Google Pay.

According to global services firm PwC, partners will have to spend 0.25 percent on UPI transaction processing. It now appears that to meet these costs, fintech companies are adopting new revenue models. UPI transactions are still completely free, many times there have been demands to levy charges on UPI but so far the government has kept it free.
