How to Control Someone else’s iPhone Screen on FaceTime (iOS 18)?

Ever wished you could have helped a friend or family members with something on their phone but won’t be able to be with them in person. With a new iOS 18 updates you can now take control of someone else’s iPhone screen or let them take control of yours over FaceTime. Go through this article and know how to control someone’s iPhone on FaceTime and how to allow someone to control your iPhone if you need help.

Please Note: This feature should only be used with people you actually know and trust. Don’t allow someone’s to take control of your iPhone over FaceTime unless you know then personally. Allowing someone you don’t know to take control of your iPhone screen could result in getting scammed. One should take caution when using this app.

How to Control Someone’s iPhone on FaceTime?

Step 1: FaceTime someone

Before you get started both people need to have their phones updated to iOS 18 or later. This feature only works over FaceTime and that to be a one-to-one FaceTime, you can’t do this on a group call. Also must have the person you’re calling saved in your contacts. Begain a FaceTime video call as normal.

Step 2: Share your screen

To request control of someone else’s screen, you’ll need to share the screen first. Whoever’s phone you want to actually have control over will need to share their screen.

  • To request to see their screen, tap on the “share” button in the top row and then tap on ‘Ask to Share’ button that pops up.
  • The other person will need to tap on ‘Share’ to allow you to see their screen.

Step 3: Request control

  • Once the other person begain sharing their screen, you’ll see a preview of the other person’s screen.
  • You can tap the window showing their iPhone screen to view it.
  • After that tap on Remote control icon at the bottom right corner of the screen to ‘Request Control’ of their screen.
  • The other person who sharing their screen need to tap on ‘Allow’ to give over control of their screen.
  • Once they have allowed access you will be able to fully control their screen for them.

Step 4: Cancel Control

  • When finished you can tap on the Remote control icon below again to stop controlling their screen.
  • Or the person share their screen can tap on ‘Stop’ on their end to evoke your control of their device.
