Hybrid Model in Champions Trophy! India to Play in Dubai
The 2025 Champions Trophy is almost certain to be held in the hybrid model. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finally bowed before the BCCI. Although nothing has been officially announced by the ICC. But it is known from the national media that everything has been finalized.
After Jai Shah took charge as the new chairman on Thursday, the first meeting was held under his chairmanship regarding the Champions Trophy. ICC did not accept any claim of Pakistan. The PCB put three conditions to the ICC.These were, hybrid model in the tournament to be played in India till 2031, compensation for hybrid model in 2025 Champions Trophy and hosting of tri-nation series with India.
In the upcoming Champions Trophy, India will play all its matches in Dubai. If India advances to the semi finals and finals then this match will be played in Dubai. Otherwise it will be held in Lahore. India vs Pakistan match will be played in Dubai. The PCB was briefed after the BCCI refused to allow the Indian team to visit Pakistan for security reasons. It remained adamant that it would not organize the tournament in the hybrid model and put various conditions for it.
