Indian Government Issued Advisory to Indian’s in Syria ; Leave the Country Immediately
The Indian government has issued an advisory to its citizens in view of increasing attacks by rebels and civilian casualties in Syria. It advises Indian citizens not to travel to Syria until advised. In addition, the citizens there are advised to leave the country immediately. External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote in a post on the social media platform X that “Indian citizens are advised not to travel to Syria until further notice in view of the current situation in Syria.” He added, Indians currently in Syria are requested to call the emergency helpline number of the embassy in Damascus at +963 993385973 (also on WhatsApp) and email id [email protected].
The Ministry of External Affairs has also advised Indian citizens that those who are able to return are advised to return as soon as possible by commercial flights and others are urged to take extra precautions regarding their safety.
Over the past week, a rebel organization called Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham has opened a front in Syria. He wants to establish his own control by ousting President Bashar al-Assad. In this series, they are constantly attacking and capturing Syrian cities. The rebels captured Aleppo, the second largest city in Syria, on 30 November 2024. After that, they went to the southern province of Hama. The rebels are also said to have captured four towns in northern and central Hamar.These rebels are killing civilians to fulfill their mission.
