‘Intra Circle Roaming’ Service: What is it & How it Works?

The Department of Telecom (DoT) has launched a new service for mobile users. Under this new service, crores of mobile users of the country will now be able to get telecom network connectivity even in remote areas. The new service launched by DoT is called ‘Intra Circle Roaming’ or ICR. In the ‘Intra Circle Roaming’ system, users will be able to use the network of another telecom operator if the network is unavailable.

What is ‘Intra Circle Roaming’ Service?

ICR stands for Intra Circle Roaming and this service enables mobile users to connect to other networks within the same mobile tower when their primary network is not available.

How Does it Works?

The Department of Telecom has launched intra-circle roaming services in collaboration with telecom operators. It is worth noting that intra-circle roaming will be available only from mobile towers installed under the Digital India Fund. Due to the cyclone that hit Odisha a few days back, all telecom operators had enabled inter-circle roaming so that people did not face network-related issues.
