As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the list of players who registered for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction, emerged the name of a 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Bihar. He made headlines for becoming the youngest player in the league’s history to register himself for the auction.
Entry of Youngest and Oldest players in IPL
This year the most senior player who made his entry in IPL is England’s James Anderson and the youngest player is Vaibhav Suryavanshi. You will be surprised to know that the age of this young player is only 13 years. Vaibhav is gaining fame at a very young age. He started playing cricket when he was only 5 years old. Now the entry has been made in the IPL Mega Auction. His base price is 30 lakh rupees.
Who is Vaibhav Suryavanshi?
Vaibhav Suryavanshi was born in Tajpur, Samastipur district of Bihar. Vaibhav’s father Sanjeev Suryavanshi is a farmer. Father Sanjeev wanted his son to become a cricketer from the beginning. Even though he is a farmer, he provides all kinds of facilities to Vaibhav. Vaibhav was interested in cricket since childhood, since the beginning, he has been practicing the leather ball. He started playing cricket at the age of 5.
On his 5th birthday, his father gifted him a bat. He played cricket at home for two years. When he was 7 years old, his father took him to a Samastipur cricket academy. After playing there for 3 years, he was admitted to the X Cricket Academy in Patna. He started playing big matches at the age of 10. Vaibhav played cricket at the senior level and scored runs. It is said that Vaibhav scored 49 centuries in different tournaments in one year.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Cricket Journey So Far
Vaibhav bats left-handed and bowls left-arm spin. He has played in many domestic tournaments so far. Suryavanshi has participated in Ranji Trophy, Cooch Behar Trophy and Vinoo Mankad Trophy. Along with this, he was also selected for India’s Under-19 team. Vaibhav played his first class match at just 12. He played a brilliant innings against Australia’s Under-19 team last month
He scored 104 runs in 64 balls against Australia. He completed his century in just 58 balls. He hit 14 fours and 4 sixes in this explosive innings. Vaibhav also became the first Indian batsman to score the fastest hundred in Under-19 Tests. Until the IPL, all eyes will be on which franchise is including Vaibhav in their team. Whether the teenager attracts any bids in the mega auction or not, only is yet to be seen.
