Lay’s Sales Freeze: ‘Lays’ Potato Chips Contain Allergens that are Not Declared on the Packet

The company has ordered to bring back its classic potato chips. These chips contain allergens that are not declared on the packaging.

According to the report, the consumer reported that the product may be affected by milk allergens. People with milk allergies may experience serious and life-threatening allergic reactions from consuming this product. On December 16, Frito-Lay announced the introduction of a 13-ounce version of its ‘Classic Potato Chips’ sold in Oregon and Washington. When some batches were found to contain milk which was not declared on the packing.

This error can be particularly serious for consumers with milk allergies or lactose intolerance. According to the FDA, food allergens are the leading cause of recalls each year. The incident also highlights how challenging it can be to maintain consistent safety standards in large-scale manufacturing. Cow’s milk allergies are a common problem, but allergies to sheep’s, goat’s and other animals’ milk can also occur, according to the Mayo Clinic. Symptoms of a milk allergy can range from mild to severe, such as difficulty breathing, vomiting, pain, and indigestion.
