Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: Mahayuti Vs Maha Vikas Aghadi
Big fight for Maharashtra assembly elections. Polling has started from 7 am. A total of 4,136 candidates are in the voting field for all 288 assembly seats of the state today. Among them there are 2086 independent candidates. BJP-led Mahayuti alliance vying to retain power and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) combine hoping for a strong comeback.

BJP, Eknath Sinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP are in Mahayuti while Congress, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena and Sharad Pawar’s NCP are in Mahavikash Aghadi. This time, a total of 9 crore 70 lakh voters will choose the leader. BJP has fielded candidates in 149, Shiv Sena in 81 and NCP in 59 seats. On the other hand, Congress is fighting in 101 seats, Shiv Sena (UBT) in 95 and NCP (SP) in 86 seats. Maharashtra Chief Electoral Officer S. Chockalingam said that all preparations have been made for free, fair and transparent polling in all 288 seats.
About 5 lakh polling staff are engaged in 1 lakh 4 hundred 27 polling centers in the state. Similarly, 2 lakh police personnel have been deployed to ensure that the voters cast their votes without fear.
Second Phase Jharkhand Assembly Election
Similarly, voting will be held in 38 seats in Jharkhand today in the second phase. There are 81 seats in the Jharkhand Assembly and the voting in the first phase was held on the 13th. Polling was held for a total of 43 seats. This time, in the second phase, there are a total of 528 candidates in the field.
About 1 crore 23 lakh voters will vote. Former Chief Minister Hemant Soren is facing trial by fire. In this process, the fate of his wife, Soren, will be determined. A total of 14 thousand 218 polling centers have taken extensive security measures while voting.
Uttar Pradesh By-Elections
On the other hand, Jharkhand and Maharashtra along with Uttar Pradesh will also vote for assembly by-elections. Voting is going on in 9 seats in Uttar Pradesh today and the results of the elections in all these states will be counted on November 23.
