New Air Pollution Rule: Delhi Government will Stop Supplying Petrol to Vehicles Older Than 15 Years at the City’s Petrol Pumps After March 31

The Delhi government has made a big announcement. The state government has decided to ban the movement of petrol vehicles older than 15 years and diesel vehicles older than 10 years. The move is aimed at controlling the rising pollution levels in the city.
According to the New Rule, Prohibited Vehicles will be Impounded
Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Saturday announced that the Delhi government will stop supplying petrol to vehicles older than 15 years at the city’s petrol pumps after March 31. After a meeting with officials to discuss measures to tackle air pollution in the national capital, Sirsa said the government is taking strict measures to curb vehicular entry and pollution.
Smart Gadgets will Help in Identifying Old Vehicles
The meeting focused on important policy decisions, including a ban on old vehicles, mandatory anti-smog measures and a shift to electric public transport. After the meeting, Sirsa said, ‘We are installing gadgets at petrol pumps which will identify vehicles older than 15 years and not give them any fuel. He said that the Delhi government will inform the Union Petroleum Ministry about this decision.
Apart from curbing fuel supply to old vehicles, it is mandatory to install smoke-proof silencers for all high-rise buildings, hotels and commercial complexes in the capital to reduce air pollution levels.The announcements come as part of a broader effort to tackle Delhi’s air pollution, a major challenge for the city’s residents.
