Today, we’re making Facebook Reels and Android available in more than 150 countries around the world. We’re also offering new tools to help creators make money, as well as more venues to watch and create Facebook Reels.
More Money-making Opportunities With Facebook Reels
We’re developing a number of ways for creators to profit from their reels. Based on the views of their qualifying reels, our Reels Play bonus programme, which is part of our $1 billion creator commitment, pays eligible artists up to $35,000 each month. These benefits have aided creators like as Jason the Great in funding their reels and gaining a better understanding of what forms of content do well on Facebook. We’ll be expanding the bonus programme to more countries in the coming months so that more creators can be paid for making reels that their communities enjoy.
We’re introducing direct monetization possibilities for Facebook Reels through ad revenue share and fan support, leveraging on our vast experience in helping creators earn substantial income from our monetization tools like in-stream advertisements and Stars. Tests of Facebook Reels Overlay Ads are now open to all creators in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with more countries to follow in the coming weeks. We’ll start with two types of ads: banner ads, which display as a semi-transparent overlay at the bottom of a Facebook Reel, and sticker ads, which are a static image ad that may be put anywhere in a creator’s reel. Creators can receive a percentage of the ad revenue by using these non-interruptive adverts.
Anyone who participates in our in-stream advertisements programme in the United States, Canada, or Mexico is instantly eligible to monetize their publicly uploaded reels with ads. By mid-March, creators in nearly every country where in-stream advertisements are accessible will be able to participate in these tests. On our Meta for Creators blog, creators may learn more about overlay ads. In the coming weeks, we’ll start testing Stars on Facebook Reels, so that users can buy and send Stars while viewing reels to support creators. Both overlay advertisements and Stars are designed to increase creator payments as more people view and interact with Reels on Facebook.
We’re also launching brand suitability controls for Banner and Sticker Ads in Facebook Reels in every region where they’re available, including Publisher Lists, Blocklists, Inventory Filters, and Delivery Reports, giving advertisers more control over how their ads appear in places they don’t think are appropriate for their brand or campaign. In addition, since October of last year, we’ve been testing full-screen and immersive advertising in between Facebook Reels, and we’ll be rolling them out to additional places across the world in the coming months. People can comment, like, view, save, share, and skip them just like they can with original Facebook material.
Create And Discover Reels In New Places
We’ll be releasing the following enhancements in the next weeks to make it easier to produce and find reels in new places:
- Reels in Stories: You can now share public reels to Facebook Stories, making it simple to share favourite reels with friends while also increasing the visibility and reach of producers. You’ll be able to make reels out of public stories as well.
- Reels in Watch: You’ll be able to watch reels straight from the Watch tab, and we’re working on features to assist you in creating reels from the Watch tab.
- Top of Feed: We’re introducing a new Reels label at the top of Feed, allowing you to quickly build and watch reels with just a few clicks.
- Suggested Reels in Feed: In a few places, we’re starting to recommend reels from folks you don’t already follow in your Feed.
We’re also looking towards crossposting to make it easier for creators to share Reels with their Facebook and Instagram audiences. Facebook Reels can be found in Feed, Groups, and Watch. You can follow the creator right from the video, like and comment on it, and share it with others when viewing a reel.
