‘STARLINK’ Satellite Internet Service: After Airtel, Elon Musk Joins Hands with Jio: Know Details

A new era in internet connectivity is about to begin with the entry of the world’s richest man, Elon Musk’s Starlink into the Indian market. The satellite internet service provider is expected to enter the Indian market through partnerships with Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel. However, before Starlink can launch its services, it will first have to obtain regulatory approval from the Indian government.
STARLINK Satellite Internet Service will going to Help the Internet Users of India in Remote Areas
Starlink’s rollout is particularly important for India, where rural and remote areas still struggle with limited broadband access. While metropolitan areas are benefiting from high-speed fiber networks, large parts of the country remain unreached. Using satellite technology, Starlink aims to provide internet service directly from space, bypassing traditional infrastructure barriers, potentially transforming digital connectivity in difficult-to-reach places.
How Much will Starlink Cost in India?
- Although the price of Starlink in India has not been revealed yet, its price in Bhutan offers an opportunity to estimate it, as it is the closest country where Starlink is available. Starlink internet can cost up to Rs 4,000 per month, but the hardware can cost you up to Rs 30,000 at a time.
- According to Starlink’s official website, the company offers two subscription plans: Starlink Residential and Starlink Residential Light. The Residential plan is designed for home users and comes with unlimited data. On the other hand, the Residential Lite plan is designed for small families with low internet usage, which offers unlimited data, but speeds may be reduced during times of high demand.
- According to the report, Starlink in India could cost between Rs 5,000 and Rs 7,000 per month, with a one-time hardware-wide price of between Rs 20,000 and Rs 38,000. This is significantly higher than the average revenue per user (ARPU) for broadband services in India, which is between Rs 400 and Rs 600. For Starlink to gain widespread adoption, it may need to implement an India-specific pricing strategy. In addition, collaboration with government initiatives focused on digital expansion could help make the service more affordable, especially for rural users.
